E News letter for all Avon Sales Leaders

Social season success“In this social season there are some great ways to bring people together to help your sales and grow your business.

Encourage your new Independent Avon Representatives to bring along friends when you go to do their T2 call; having more people involved gives more opportunities to demonstrate products, increase sales and find potential team members. There are more tips on this in your First Quarter Guide available now on the Sales Leader website.

What about organising your own party? Don’t worry if you don’t know where to start; there is lots of information, tips and ideas on the Sales Leader and Representative websites. I’ve spoken to many people who have had their own successful events: it really can be whatever you want it to be.

I know from the Avon Area Managers that I work with that Independent Avon Sales Leaders are reaping the rewards from holding events, from swoop days, to training sessions, to parties. Not only are social get-togethers a chance to develop sales and teams and to give and receive training, but they can really motivate people through sharing ideas and experiences. Why not give it a try?”

Completing important business documentsAs there can be delays in receiving mail by post in the build up to Christmas, Avon recommends that you send completed Representative and Sales Leader Agreements as quickly as possible back to Avon.

Once a Trainee Sales Leader is actively recruiting they are required to sign and send the Sales Leader Agreement and Bank Details forms back to Avon. These forms can be downloaded from the Sales Leader website and can be posted using the Freepost address on the form. Until Avon receives these forms to process, a Trainee’s status will not change and no commission will be paid. Any loss of commission due to the Agreement not being received by Avon will not be backdated, so please emphasise to your Trainees the importance of prompt posting of documents. Encourage your Trainees to follow up on whether their Sales Leader Agreement has been received by Avon. If Trainee Sales Leaders have not received a notification e-mail confirming receipt of the Sales Leader Agreement they should contact the Sales Leadership Support Team at sales.leader@avon.com

Top TipsPlease be careful when completing an Independent Avon Representative Agreement. If information is incomplete, illegible or inaccurate the Sales Leadership Support Team can’t load the Agreement immediately and the Representative will be unable to place her order.

The top issues with delayed agreements are:

  • Missing, incomplete or incorrect date of birth.
  • Incomplete title, first name, middle name and surname. Initials are not acceptable.
  • Unclear / inaccurate postcode.

Avon in the News

BBC News

Women’s opportunities

Women selling cosmetics to women directly in their home has been a winning formula that has resulted in the present day Avon having a presence in more than 100 countries with a total revenue of $8.1bn (£4.2bn) and more than 5.1 million reps worldwide.

This unique way of selling cosmetics came about by chance.

In 1886 a book salesman David Hall McConnell was giving out free perfume to housewives to encourage them to buy more books.

However, his customers were more interested in the perfume than the books so Mr McConnell decided to forget about the books and concentrate on making and selling his own perfume.

His eureka moment came when he decided to use women to sell to women at a time when they did not even have the right to vote.

Avon Man

To sort it out, Avon is committed to doubling its global advertising budget and Andrea Slater, Avon’s president in the UK and Republic of Ireland says the UK “is certainly going to get their fair share of that”.

Make-up Avon is gearing up its advertising efforts

Ms Slater also now feels that Avon is at a stage when it has to “step it up a level and really focus on the brand building pieces”.

While one in three women in the UK are regular customers, Andrea is keen to ensure they “spread the word to the two in three that perhaps don’t know Avon that well”.
