Jane Philpott: Under the Spotlight

Jane Philpott talks goals, advice and pure business in this exclusive Avon Insight magazine Issue 1 2015 interview.

"What do you think makes a good Sales Leader? Being a good Sales Leader is as simple as ABC - Ambition, Belief and Commitment, the rest is easy. Avon is such a strong and trusted brand that it's easy to find people to join as Representatives and, even more importantly, for them to find customers. I'm passionate about Avon Sales Leadership, it's not a nine-to-five job, it's a way I can help people change their lives for the better."

"What top tips do you give to new Sales Leaders joining your team? I have two top tips for new team members. First give it time - this is a great, genuine opportunity. The second is be the best you can be and lead by example. This means aiming for President's Club, it also means getting the training you need to be a professional and most of all have a bit of fun and enjoy the journey."

"How has the new Advanced Leadership programme made it easier to promote the earning opportunity with Avon? By creating a clear progression plan, people can see where they want to be and make concrete action plans to make it happen. The move from 4 to 12 levels creates achievable stepping stones to the top level. I think the early stage bonuses are key to helping people feel the financial benefit early on in their Avon business."

You can find the whole interview on page 17 of Avon Insight magazine Issue 1 2015.

What do you need to do now to retain them and make sure they stay with Avon?"

Avon says discuss your new team members dreams and goals, and make sure you listen because then you can personally identify what path to guide them down - whether it's Leadership or being a Rep. Also make sure you keep track of all the information you find out about your new member. Take your notes with you when you catch up with them, on their first and second order call and further down the line. Remember to keep in contact with them and help them out every step of the way, and you can always use all the different tools Gailsreps and Avon offer, from gailsreps blog to the Training Room online.

  3. Productivity: Gives you the attention you need to concentrate on the right tasks
  4. Foresight: Limits the impact of unforeseen circumstances when you have contingencies in place
  5. Confidence: Helps you make ambitious goals to predict your future business performance
